Even at this discount, it still feels ridiculously expensive.

That's how I know I'm not the target demographic for this sort of a product.

My unsolicited advice to anyone considering this is : think hard if your really need this. If you're active and go camping in crazy winters, this will be an absolute essential purchase and will last you long. If not, maybe look for an alternative.

In northern states, not unreasonable to want a warm coat and this isn't that much. They make stuff in China though, for the price I agree it'd be nice if it was made somewhere else.

North Face or older marmot in the Northeast is a must. Tbh winter hasn't been that bad for the past 2 years, haven't touched my parkas more than 5 times. Can get away with layering, which many don't seem to understand.

These 400-1k jackets are insane for daily usage. If you're hiking in the mountains or visiting the north pole that's different.

If it's a quality product, why do you care where it was made? Or are you trying to say, it's not a quality product since it is made in China?

A 4-pound jacket? Does it float or sink?

I saw this at my local REI and tried it on, this thing is so puffy that is kind of ridiculous. It's kind of funny, feels like you're a bodybuilder and have huge arms and under arm. You can't even put your hands in your pockets. I bought an Arc'teryx instead.
