This is the best router for the money imo. I've had it for awhile now and it's a tremendous bang for the buck and just a great router overall regardless.

I dunno I bought a TP-Link AXE5400 at Walmart for $159 and I'm very very happy with it. Had to upgrade because of wireless security cams.

Decent range standalone however being a dual band router doesn't make it the best for mesh. Tri band router give a dedicated channel to wireless backhaul so one of the 5ghz is only used for mesh that way it doesn't interfere with other devices. Check out the asus XT8 or GT6 systems. Orbi is great at the high end ones. Not sure about the one that's Costco deal though

Does newer tp link make you download app to use the router?

I had an older tp link router and this asus router.

Both brand customer service sucks. With tp link too much trouble shooting. With asus when you rma they send your unit back saying it is fixed or try to get money out of you.

I never had a problem with Asus routers but rare minor disconnect, just motherboards problems. Own 3 mobo all 3 had problems, onboard video, USB, and bluescreens

No, you don't have to download an app. I went with TP Link cause the past few years I had an older model TP Link and no issues, just the range and speed was different. I have an older Asus board but no issues also use an Asus Power Supply.
